Job Title: General Sales Manager WJBO/WSKR (Baton Rouge)
Department: Sales
Reports To: Director of Sales

SUMMARY
Manages sales team and maximizes revenues through serving customer needs. For the Heritage News/Talk station and Sports station in the Baton Rouge Market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•  Oversees efforts of sales team by reviewing sales proposals and negotiations with clients.
•  Monitors sales progress and account management of subordinates.
•  Develops, implements and communicates sales strategies/action plans.
•  Forecasts and projects potential revenue.
•  Conducts sales meetings.
•  Recruits, hires, coaches, trains, counsels and motivates subordinates.
•  Manages rate structuring and inventory control.
•  Accompanies subordinates on calls to prospects.
•  Coordinates sales activities with other departments.
•  May personally handle local accounts.
•  Attends and participates in trade shows/community organization events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Sales Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university (preferred); one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, sales persons, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices. Computer proficient. Ability to travel and work long hours.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license and state mandated automobile insurance.
