According to TMZ on Friday, American Idol will return to television on ABC with a tentative date of March 2018.
Fox made a strong offer at last minute, but ABC sealed the deal.
According to several sources, ABC is eyeing the March premiere which may potentially air on Sunday nights.
It is yet to be determined if Ryan Seacrest will return as a host. Seacreast last week announced his role as the new co-host of ABC's Live with Kelly & Ryan. Seacrest relocated to New York to take the job, and this may cause conflict to have Seacrest come back to Idol, which has always been filmed in Los Angeles. Sources involved told TMZ that Fremantle and Core along with ABC want Seacrest to host the show. As of now, Ryan isn't saying 'no'!
